Frequently "Axe"-ed Questions

What do I need to know before I come?

Make sure that you are wearing close-toed shoes. We will not allow you into the throwing area if you are not wearing close-toed shoes. We allow throwers aged 12 and over. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their time.

Do you sell food or drinks?

We have a vending machine that sells soft drinks and light snacks. We do allow you to bring – or have delivered – your own food and beverages, including beer or wine. We just ask that you leave any hard alcohol at home. DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub all deliver to our locations.

Is axe throwing safe?

Absolutely. Section 37 Axe Room has put safety as our highest priority, from the way that we built our throwing lanes, to the safety training of our employees. Only the 2 active throwers are allowed to be inside the throwing zone, and our axeperts will ensure that all participants are following the safety rules established at the beginning of your throwing session. Axes are not sharp to the touch, and we inspect axes and targets every day to ensure safe operations. We do allow participants to drink beer and wine, but if you become overly intoxicated, we will ask that you stop throwing.

Can I cancel my reservation? What if I show up late?

If you can’t make your appointment, we will work with you as much as we can. Let us know right away so that we can try to reschedule you to a different day or time. However, all sales are final, so you will not get a refund.
If you are running late, we will do everything that we can to accommodate you, but if there are customers waiting to throw after you, your session will end at the originally scheduled time. The best plan is to arrive 15 minutes early so that you can get checked in and ready to throw!

What's with your name? What is Section 37?

According to Mental FlossSection 37 seems to be some mysterious, nonexistent place. According to a 1958 DARE quote from a Pacific Northwesterner, “The usual township contains 36 sections, and 37 is not supposed to exist.” Therefore, the term describes something strange and unusual. A 1969 quote says that in New England and the Great Lakes, section 37 is a kind of lumberjack heaven, “where all good loggers go when they ‘cash in their chips.’” Finally, a 2001 quote from Wisconsin describes section 37 as where greenhorns go, where you cut timber if you’re stealing it, and a night at the tavern.

How does this whole thing work?

When you arrive, you will be checked in by one of our axeperts. If your reservation includes less than 6 throwers, you may share a lane with other parties. We provide all of the equipment that you will need, and our axeperts will provide safety and throwing instructions. Axe throwing is an individual sport played against other members of a group, similar to bowling or darts. We have multiple games that you can play, and we provide scorecards so that you can keep track of the competition!

Do you accept walk-ins?

While we do offer walk-in throwing, we recommend that you book in advance on our website to ensure that you avoid a long wait time, or missing the opportunity to throw entirely!

What if I want to have an event before you open?

We love special events! Use the contact form on our home page to let us know what you are thinking, and we will see what we can do to get you set up!

Are you open every day?

For the most part! We are open 7 days a week, with the exception of New Year’s Day,  Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Can I have a fundraising event at one of your locations?
